COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course explores post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), dementia and the increased likelihood of an older returned service person developing dementia. The triggers and behaviours associated with a person who has PTSD are explored as well as the appropriate management of these behaviours as an expression of their unmet needs.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

After completing this course, participants should be able to:

• Explain what PTSD and demantia are
• Describe the symptoms someone might experience if they have the PTSD
• Demonstrate how to identify and support a person’s behaviour effectively if they have PTSD or dementia
